Deborah is a Waterville, Maine native whose life-long passion for movement, the natural world, and holistic health led her, as a teenager, to the studies of the connections between the emotions, thoughts, physical well-being, and spiritual health.
Deborah has held various national fitness leader certifications, has written monthly health columns for a Maine newspaper, has been the Fitness Director for the Waldo County YMCA, and worked at the Belfast Dance Studio for many years. She also produced and aired a weekly radio segment entitled Body- Mind- Spirt and worked in the organic gardens and lab at Avena Botanicals.
Deborah's study of Yoga has included many lineages with a number of teachers nationwide including Richard Freeman, Scott Blossom, Patricia Walden and T.K.V. Desikachar. The Ayurvedic studies include such teachers as Drs. David Frawley, Vasant Lad, Claudia Welch, John Douillard, and Sunil Joshi. There are many other teachers of Yoga and Ayurveda who have guided her on her path including Hilary Garivaltis and Dr. Rosy Mann with the Kripalu School of Ayurveda.
Deborah has conducted classes and workshops and has consulted on an individual basis for the past 26 years. She holds to the traditional teachings of Yoga and Ayurveda, combining them in her offerings while emphasizing the importance of individualizing the practice. She is a graduate of the Kripalu School of Ayurveda and is a Certified Ayurvedic Consultant, a Registered Yoga Teacher and a Certified Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist.
The Ayurveda Yoga Center, formerly known as the Inside Moves Studio, developed as a result of her philosophy, life experiences, and years of study.
